Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"This is an excellent Michelin star fried dumpling shop in TST. Service is fast and staff are professional. Limited setting for 6 inside so we ordered take away. We had the wanton soup and fried dim sum. Both were great and affordable at around $120 or 400 THB. Would have it again and loved the biodegradable bowls and spoons."
"Very good soup filled pan fried buns. I had the classic and truffle. Honestly liked the classic more. The truffle is a very strong flavor. I also ordered the pork and vegetable wantons in soup. Very good and the wantons are giant. Restaurants a bit hard to find its at the end of a building crossing walkthrough. There was a small wait but the line moves very quickly maybe 8-10 min for 10 people to move"
"A small shop on a narrow street near Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station. There are seats for 3–4 people for those who want to eat. The signature pan-fried buns were juicy inside, with flavorful filling and nicely textured dough."
"Famous Michelin-listed pan-fried buns, freshly made and best enjoyed hot at the shop. Taste: Signature pan-fried buns are the highlight—thin skin, crispy bottom, juicy pork filling. Very satisfying when eaten fresh. Atmosphere: Small takeaway-style shop, busy but efficient. Watching them cook adds to the experience. Service: Fast and well-organized despite the crowd. Price: Reasonable for the quality and reputation. Summary: Highly recommended to eat on the spot. Takeaway is okay, but the juiciness and crispiness drop a bit after sitting. Worth a stop if you’re in TST."
"Cheung Hing Kee delivers an excellent experience if you are looking for comforting yet elevated Shanghai-style pan-fried buns. The buns are freshly made, with a soft and slightly chewy wrapper that holds the filling beautifully. Each bun is pan-fried to give a lightly crisp base while keeping the inside juicy and flavorful, creating a great contrast in texture. What really stood out for me was the truffle flavor. The truffle aroma is fragrant but not overpowering, blending perfectly with the savory filling instead of masking it. It adds a rich, luxurious depth that makes the buns feel extra special while still staying true to their traditional roots. The seasoning is well balanced, allowing the natural flavors to come through without being greasy or heavy. The buns are served hot and fresh, which makes a big difference in taste and enjoyment. Even as a takeaway, the quality remains impressive. Portion size is satisfying, and every bite feels consistent and well prepared. Overall, Cheung Hing Kee offers high-quality pan-fried buns with thoughtful flavors and great execution. The truffle option is especially memorable and worth trying. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys well-made Chinese street-style comfort food with a refined touch."
"Cheung Hing Kee is easy to miss. Situated in a narrow alley, it's best to visit here at night. A Michelin-starred Shanghainese shop, they offer authentic pan-fried buns filled with piping hot soup (yes, soup) that you can slurp. For a box of 4, it can make you full. Black sesame is topped as a garnish. Once you add black vinegar and chili oil, the flavor just explodes in your mouth in perfect melody. Beware: the shop only accepts CARD PAYMENTS. You can grab this as a quick snack before you go to Victoria Harbour since their shop is so close to it!"
"I totally understand why this place deserves its Michelin recognition! The buns were perfectly fried on the bottom—crispy and golden—with generous, flavorful fillings and hot, well-seasoned soup inside. Service was quick, and even though there was a queue, our order came out fast. Just be careful on your first bite—the soup inside is piping hot and can spill easily! My tip: nibble a small corner first, then enjoy the rest. Definitely a must-try when in Hong Kong!"
"It’s one of my fav spots to stop by for pan-fried buns. This time I tried a different one that's spicy and Numbing, it’s a great combination. I love how it's fresh cooking with a crispy bun outside, tasty soup inside, and vinegar on top. You can order a few to try; a small portion starts at 4 pieces. After ordering, you can eat at the standing bar, which is really cool to watch them prepare the buns."
